Photographs of Kathleen Bailey
Earlier this year my Grandma died, and as we were sorting out her things, I found a box under her bed that belonged to her mother. Inside it had photographs of my Grandma as a little girl. The photographs were taken in the 1930’s, of her and her brother Harry. She grew up in Davyhulme in Manchester and they had frequent trips to Southport in the summer. My grandmother was a big part of my life. She was an incredible character; a businesswoman, an adventurer, and she had an amazing passion for life and for people. She was 60 when I was born, so I always just saw her as ‘Grandma’. It has been amazing for me to see her in a different light, as little Kathleen Eccles, who loved her big brother and playing in the garden.
