Dancing shoes

Mrs Colbeck

Covered in black silk these evening shoes were worn with a full-length cream chiffon evening dress decorated with orange and silver beads on the shoulders and belt. They were purchased by Mrs Colbeck before her marriage at the Lotus shoe shop in Chorlton-cum-Hardy in Manchester. She wore them to go dancing with her fiancé, a pilot. The shoes are marked with the Utility symbol (CC41) and are lined with green kid leather. After their marriage the couple moved to Stafford in 1953, the home of Lotus shoes. Do you have a piece of clothing that has a special, happy memory attached to it?
