Christening Gown

Bridget Perkin

The delicate Christening gown and fine woollen shawl were made by my paternal Grandmother Bertha Caroline Mangelsdorff, later Shaw, for her daughter in 1911, while the British Army family was posted in India . Since then, the gown has been worn by four further generations, including my sister in 1950. My two daughters and their daughters have also worn it, the most recently in 2015 by my Grand-daughter Jessie.
